Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions I get asked as a hypnotherapist.  If you have additional questions or would like to discuss your personal goals, book a free consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

According to the American Journal of Psychotherapy and American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis there is a 93% success rate with an average of 6 sessions. Every person is different and responds differently. What I’ve found in my practice and programs is the clients who do the work tend to achieve their goals within 3-4 sessions. Its for this reason I work with my clients a minimum of one month.

What does Hypnotherapy feel like?

The experience feels different for everyone. Some feel a floating sensation while others do not. Others have reported feeling a deep, heavy, relaxing feeling while some do not. Some have reported feeling sleepy or have even fallen asleep while others do not. In general most people feel calm, at ease and aware of their surroundings. What’s most important is to know that how you’re feeling i.e. “I feel hypnotized”, isn’t an indicator of how effective the session is and what your feeling is perfect for you.

Can I get stuck in Hypnosis?

No! That’s an old wive’s tale. You have complete control the whole time. You can talk, move your body, get a tissue, even get up and leave to go to the bathroom. If we get disconnected or interrupted you may drift into deep relaxation a while longer, but eventually you’ll notice that you’re not hearing my voice and open your eyes. Hollywood paints a very different scene and often confuses hypnotist with hypnotherapist and although hypnotherapy can be just as powerful this is not Office Space.

How does it work?

Hypnosis is not magic – It’s science! It works by creating a burst of brain waves that are the same as when you’re in REM. Thats what allows you to access the subconscious mind. It’s very easy and anyone can do it. You’ll see for yourself when you do it too!

What if I go back to scenes that are painful or scary?

If you go back to scenes from your life that are related to trauma, things such as sexual or physical abuse etc., it’s important to remember that you are not reliving the event, it is a scene you are watching. In Hypnosis you are reviewing, looking over, through and around it. I’ve been working with PTSD and trauma for 14yrs and utilize many tools to support you so that you feel safe in order for you to process whats ready to be healed.

Virtual vs. In-Person

I have been offering virtual and in person since i’ve started my practice and there is absolutely no difference on the impact of the session, it just comes down to personal preference. The office offers a quiet space, where virtual offers the comfort of your home. In person you don’t have interference, in person the connection could drop however again it has no significant impact on the outcome. I’m about 80% virtual and 20% in person.

How much does it cost?

No person is alike, so everyones healing journey will have different needs and length. I generally work with clients a minimum of a month, however I will be able to gauge whats needed during a free consultation. Sessions $300, programs and business range from $1200 - 15K

When will I start to see changes?

I’ve noticed 3 types of responses from my clients – every person is different and one way isn’t better or less than another.

  1. Immediate: you feel a massive shift right away – immediate changes in your physiology, thoughts and behaviors right in the session.

  2. Incremental: You see consistent shifts every day and over time.

  3. Retroactive: You experience an increase of symptoms temporarily and then a subtle to profound shift daily and overall.
